Walker has been leading us in the song Hosanna (Hillsong United) for the past several weeks, and I really like it. What I love though is the bridge:
Heal my heart and make it clean
open up my eyes to the things unseen
show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks yours
everything I am for your Kingdom’s cause
as I walk from earth into eternity
I cannot get that out of my soul. It makes my heart ache to make that truth in my life. Shane Claiborne spoke at Catalyst this year, and most of the people around me could have done without him, but I could have listened to him all day. He got it, not only that, but he is doing it. A little unorthodox, a little dirtier than most of us would like, but he gets what breaks God’s heart and everything he has is for the Kingdom’s Cause.
I am really doing some heavy self analysis with the house selling stuff, are my prayers just “quarters” in the vending machine called God? How do I boldly go before the throne and bring him my smallest request, but not get disappointed when he doesn’t come through? It’s more than selling a house, it is my faith. I am loving it though, I love coming at God, face to face and asking him questions like I want my kids to approach David and I! I LOVE MY GOD!
So, I am reminded of the verse that has become my lifeblood
Micah 6:8-He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Lord, may my heart love mercy more than fairness, may I not only desire justice, but do it, and may I ALWAYS act for your kingdom with humility and in Your name.
Love, love, LOVE Shane Claiborne. I had the privilege of hearing him speak three days in a row at Cornerstone Festival last year. We are going back this year but he will only be there once for his Jesus for President tour.
I love his grace most of all. He is living a really radical life and some would think he would be so judgmental or condemning of people caught up in their own little worlds but he isn’t. He just offers so much grace.
